Training programmes

There’s more than one training route into the cockpit of a commercial aircraft. Swiss AviationTraining offers both integrated air transport pilot training (ATP) and integrated Multi-Crew Pilot License-Training (MPL). Two integrated ATP and two MPL training courses are held every year.

ATP training lasts around 18 months and is the traditional form of pilot training, culminating in the award of a "frozen" air transport pilot licence (ATPL), whose holder can apply for employment as a pilot at any airline. Swiss AviationTraining’s integrated ATP training is available to both SWISS-financed and self-financed trainees.

Integrated MPL lasts around 18 months as well and leads directly to employment at SWISS. This training course features a number of elements which focus more strongly on subsequent airline employment and promote the "multi-crew concept" approach. Swiss AviationTraining and SWISS are the European leader in MPL training, which is only available to SWISS-financed trainees.
