Acceptance requirements

  • Swiss national, EU or EFTA national
  • Between 20 years and 33rd birthday when applying
  • Height: 160-198 cm
  • Official duty candidates: basic military training (CH: "Rekrutenschule") or civil defence (CH: "Langer Einsatz") completed when applying
  • For Swiss International Air Lines pilot training: Baccalaureate or equivalent (or university admission test or equivalent passed) or admission test passed to a university of applied sciences ("Fachhochschule"), i.e. professional apprenticeship (of at least 3 years) completed with vocational baccalaureate ("Berufsmatura") passed or admission test passed to the corresponding "Fachhochschule".
  • For Swiss European Air Lines pilot training: At least highest level of non-high-school secondary education completed plus at least 3 years of professional training.
  • Language skills: German:mother tongue or proof of achievement of Level B2 proficiency as defined in the Council of Europe's European Language Portfolio; English: mother tongue or proof of achievement of Level B2, (e.g. Cambridge First Certificate Grade A or B)
