Engine Run-Up and Taxiing Maintenance Refresher Course for Saab 2000, BAe 146 / Avro RJ85/100, Embraer ERJ 135/145 and Embraer 170/190 aircraft


Objectives

After completing the Engine Run-Up and Taxiing Maintenance Refresher Course, the participant should be able to:

- understand / explain the engine systems relevant to engine
operations
- start and power up the engines by following the procedures
and restrictions specified in the corresponding approved technical
documentation and to all relevant safety precautions
- conduct systems function tests connected with engine runs
- determine whether the systems meet the relevant performance
requirements
- conduct the appropriate troubleshooting in the event of a system
failure


Content

The course is divided into two sections: theoretical refresher and practical training on a full-flight simulator.

The theoretical instruction is intended to serve as a refresher on the systems and procedures required to operate, manage and monitor the engines. The time required for each topic here will depend on the participant’s existing knowledge levels.

The simulator training covers all normal and abnormal systems procedures, including symptoms and problem-solving, taxiing and manufacturers’ testing programmes.

The content can be adapted individually according to personal requirements.


Admission requirements
The course is intended for Category B1 or B2 maintenance technicians. Participants must have already completed the corresponding maintenance engineer’s type course or an equivalent thereof and the initial run ap and taxi course.


Course length
- 1 day (depending on the simulator sessions); the course duration
can be adapted to specific customer needs
