Engine Run Up and Taxiing Maintenance Course for Saab 2000, BAe 146 / Avro RJ85/100, Embraer ERJ 135/145 and Embraer 170/190 aircraft
Objectives After completing the Engine Run-Up and Taxiing Maintenance Course, the participant should be able to:
- understand / explain the engine systems relevant to engine operations - start and power up the engines by following the procedures and restrictions specified in the corresponding approved technical documentation and to all relevant safety precautions - conduct systems function tests connected with engine runs - determine whether the systems meet the relevant performance requirements - conduct the appropriate troubleshooting in the event of a system failure
Content The course is divided into three sections: theoretical training, procedure training and practical training in the full flight simulator.
The theoretical instruction is intended to serve as a refresher on the systems required to operate, manage and monitor the engines. The time required for each topic here will depend on the participant’s existing knowledge levels.
The procedure training is performed with the use of a static mock up. It covers all normal and emergency procedures and familiarizes the participants with the cockpit layout and all control functions as a preparation for the practical full flight simulator training.
The simulator training covers all normal and abnormal systems procedures, including symptoms and problem-solving, taxiing and manufacturers’ testing programmes.
The content can be adapted individually according to personal requirements.
Admission requirements The course is intended for Category B1 or B2 maintenance technicians. Participants must have already completed the corresponding maintenance engineer’s type course or an equivalent thereof.
Course length - 2-3 days (depending on the simulator sessions); the course duration can be adapted to specific customer needs
